There is a small tree in the middle of a forest.
New hatchlings struggle to make do in the confines of their miniscule world--
the only sound in the wood.
It is rumored that this tree has some sort of infestation,
and if this tree is unable to fight off the disease,
the rest of the forest will fall.
We do not prevent the virus.
We do not think of alternative ways to stop its spread.
We do not remove the nest.
We do not cut the tree.
We burn the whole forest.
If a tree burns in a forest,
and no one survives the ensuing blaze...
did it ever happen?
